Connecting the world through music.
Fred Kobby, born Wilfred Nguah, is a Ghanaian Afrobeat artist and songwriter from Accra. Growing up, music was simply part of the air he breathed: his father's record collection moved between highlife and reggae, the city outside hummed with dancehall, and somewhere in that mix a voice was being shaped. All of it, the inherited rhythms, the street sounds, the Sunday morning feel of a home where music mattered, finds its way, eventually, into his music.
Fred first announced himself to a wider audience through a freestyle that caught the attention of Afrobeat legend Fuse ODG, who reposted it with the words: "Somebody tag him, let him know I want to sponsor an official video for this song — he's too talented." The co-sign led to Fuse ODG visiting Fred in his own community in Accra, a moment that signalled, to those paying attention, that something real was developing.
Since then, Fred Kobby has been building steadily and on his own terms. His debut releases, including Pray, Ginger, Obaasima, Find My Way and Head to Greatness showcase a vocalist and a songwriter with a clear sense of what he wants to say. The music is rooted in Afrobeat but refuses to stay in one lane; there is soul in it, and ambition, and the particular confidence of someone who knows the work is worth doing.
Fred Kobby is at the beginning of what he intends to be a long career. The foundation is being laid, song by song, show by show, with a focus on craft, authenticity, and connecting with listeners who value music that means something.
